AMPLIFY: Annual Benefit Fashion Show (2022)

I had the honor of creating a musical score for Lucas Taurin’s knitwear fashion line. I also had the opportunity to wear the main garment and strut down the runway as a model!

Here is a blurb from Lucas explaining his practice inspired by Yarn & Camp:

Yarn & Camp stray away from the norms of high fashion and is meant to not be taken seriously. As someone with ADHD, I experience sensory overload in the presence of overlapping sounds, smells and colors. However, when I work with yarn, especially knit and crochet, it immediately begins to alleviate that overwhelming feeling.

I like to balance both ends of my sensory spectrum in my work. If a typical fashion line is an Oscar-winning drama, then this line in Sharknado. Each piece prioritizes humor, chaos, and above all, fun.

Use your voice to AMPLIFY: Dare to be bold, adventurous, and unapologetic. Created by Dr. Frankie Martin, the Annual Benefit Fashion Show began as a Black Student Union program and was initially designed to highlight students' creativity and artistry of the African diaspora who were often overlooked.

Since then, ABFS works to AMPLIFY and encompass larger diversity and inclusion initiatives and is one of the year's most anticipated events on campus. It brings together a community of diverse majors, identities, and ethnicities into one dynamic event.
